75 Years of Logistics — Celebrated on a Cooler

Some milestones deserve more than a plaque on a wall. When K.T. Preston Pty Ltd reached 75 years in the cartage and logistics business, the family didn't want a generic corporate trophy. They wanted something that captured the heritage — the trucks, the name, the three generations of Prestons who built the business — in a format that could be used, shared, and taken to every family and company event for years to come.
The Challenge
K.T. Preston has been a cartage contractor since 1950. That's 75 years of trucks on Australian roads, three generations of the Preston family, and a visual identity built around classic vehicle livery that's evolved over decades. The anniversary piece had to honour that heritage authentically — not a modern rebrand, but a celebration of the history.
It also had to be practical. The Prestons are a working family in a working industry. They didn't want a display piece that sat on a shelf. They wanted something that could come to a depot barbecue, a family Christmas, or a company milestone event — functional, portable, and built to last.
The Approach
A branded cooler sits at the intersection of commemoration and utility in a way that few other products can match. It's a functional object that people use and enjoy, wrapped in the visual identity of the brand it celebrates. For a family logistics business, a cooler on wheels is the perfect format — portable, practical, and connected to the road-freight heritage of the company.
The design brief focused on heritage, not modernity. The Prestons wanted vintage truck illustrations, the original hand-lettered logo, and the "Celebrating 75 Years" script — elements that connected the piece to the company's origins rather than its current corporate identity.
The Execution
KingCave produced a full wrap on a YF-NL42 wheeled cooler unit in K.T. Preston's signature teal and white. The design features hand-drawn vintage truck illustrations across the body — faithful reproductions of the trucks that built the business. The K.T. Preston wordmark is rendered in the original hand-lettered style, with "Celebrating 75 Years" scripted across the front panel.
The matte laminate finish suits the heritage aesthetic — it avoids the high-shine look of modern branding and instead evokes the painted signage of mid-century transport livery. The wheeled cooler format was chosen for its portability and rugged construction, with a heavy-duty latch built for site use.
The cooler connected three generations of the Preston family at the anniversary celebration — each recognising the trucks they'd driven and the logo they'd grown up with.
The Impact
The branded cooler was unveiled at the company's 75th anniversary celebration. It became the centrepiece of the event — sparking conversations between generations of the Preston family and long-serving employees who recognised the vintage trucks from their early careers. Photos of the cooler circulated on social media, drawing attention from other logistics companies and transport enthusiasts.
Since the anniversary, the cooler has been a fixture at depot events, family gatherings, and industry meetups. It's not stored in a warehouse — it's used regularly, keeping the 75th anniversary milestone alive in the company's day-to-day culture.
What Family Businesses Can Take From This
Milestone celebrations in family businesses carry a weight that corporate anniversaries don't. They're personal. A branded cooler or fridge that features the company's visual heritage becomes a family heirloom as much as a corporate asset. It tells the story of the business in a format that people actually use and enjoy.
For logistics, transport, and trades businesses, a wheeled cooler is particularly fitting — it's built for the environments these businesses operate in, and it carries the brand wherever the work takes it.
