This project proves it—when you walk your own path, you raise the bar. Literally. By elevating the fridges into a floating cabinetry structure, this outdoor kitchen creates the look of a custom appliance wall. It’s not just aesthetic. Proper ventilation is maintained at the front, thanks to Schmick’s front-venting design. Zero compromise on airflow, all gain in design impact.

The Install

This Gold Coast setup is what happens when clean design meets smart appliance selection. The customer needed a fridge setup that would look high-end, run quiet, and handle Queensland humidity without fail.

They opted for two Schmick 164L units—SK156L-HD (left hinge) and SK156R-HD (right hinge)—installed side by side to create a dual-door, centre-opening configuration that looks built-in from the factory.

But the standout moves?

Custom-made handles: instead of off-the-shelf options, the customer fabricated their own timber handles to match the vertical panelling. Subtle. Refined. One of one.
Raised cabinetry design: the fridges aren’t dropped to floor level. Instead, they’re installed at ergonomic height, with cabinetry finishing clean around the base. No kickboard. No mess. Pure intent.
Condensation-free performance: Heated triple-glazed glass doors ensure full visibility and zero fog—even in humid, coastal conditions. Essential for any outdoor install.
