Bar Fridge With Freezer — Do They Exist & Which Ones Are Worth Buying?

17 Mar 2026|3 min read

"Can I get a bar fridge with a freezer compartment?" It's one of the most common questions we hear. The short answer is yes — but the options are more nuanced than you might expect.

This guide covers every type of bar fridge with freezer capability available in Australia, from compact combo units to full-size matching pairs.

The Three Types of Bar Fridge-Freezer Solutions

1. Integrated Fridge-Freezer Combos

These are single units with both a fridge and freezer compartment, designed to build into cabinetry.

Schmick MC200-INT ($1,617) — The most popular combo. 207L total capacity split between fridge and freezer compartments, fits under a standard bench at 820mm tall. Front-venting for built-in installation. 1,190mm wide (takes two standard cabinet slots).

Schmick MC560-INT ($2,589) — Full-height upright combo at 1,770mm tall. 479L total capacity. Matching fridge and freezer side by side at 1,080mm total width. Our best-selling integrated solution.

Schmick MSLF241 ($1,347) — Single-column upright with fridge above and freezer below. 241L total, 540mm wide, 1,770mm tall. Fits in a single cabinet slot.

2. Standalone Mini Freezers

If you already have a bar fridge and just need a freezer alongside it:

Schmick BD36 ($427 BFA price) — 36L solid door mini freezer. Ultra-compact, perfect for ice and frozen snacks beside your bar fridge.

Schmick SD36 ($510) — 36L glass door mini freezer. Same capacity as the BD36 but with a glass front for display.

Schmick MSF90 ($897) — 96L integrated under-bench freezer. Front-venting, builds into cabinetry flush with your other appliances.

Schmick MSF230 ($1,497) — 214L upright integrated freezer. Full-height column at 1,770mm tall, 540mm wide.

3. Matching Fridge + Freezer Pairs

For the ultimate setup — a matching bar fridge and freezer side by side:

Schmick MC560-INT — Matching integrated fridge and freezer pair that look like one seamless unit. 479L combined, 1,080mm wide, built for cabinetry.

Schmick SK168-Combo ($4,977 RRP) — Matching upright glass door wine fridge and beer fridge pair at 1,200mm total width.

Schmick BD425-Combo-B ($4,477 BFA price) — Matching upright glass door beer fridge and wine fridge combination. 810L total across two 405L units.

Key Considerations

Temperature range matters. A fridge compartment runs 0–10°C. A freezer needs to hit -18°C or lower. Combo units with separate compressors for each zone perform better than single-compressor units that try to do both.

Installation depth. Under-bench combos like the MC200-INT are 540mm deep — check your cabinet depth. Standard Australian base cabinets are 560–600mm deep, so these fit with room for power cables behind.

Energy use. Freezer compartments use more energy than fridges because of the greater temperature differential. Expect a combo unit to cost $80–$120/year to run — roughly double a fridge-only unit of the same size.

Defrost type. Frost-free (auto-defrost) models are more convenient but slightly noisier. Manual defrost models are quieter but need periodic defrosting. Most Schmick combo units are frost-free.
