Behind the F40's seats is a 2,936 cc V8 with two turbochargers, good for 471 horsepower in a car so stripped back that even the windows were plastic: early F40s had sliding Lexan panes instead of wind-down glass. Ferrari built about 1,300 of them.
In this picture every line of the car is traced in neon. Cyan and magenta run along the side intakes, round the tail and up the wing, and the standing water underneath throws it all back. Behind it the rain is still coming down and the city goes soft and blue. It is the most graphic of the four F40 designs and it reads from right across a room, best of all on a dark wall in low light.
