The 350 GT was Lamborghini's first production car, and the engine came before everything else. Giotto Bizzarrini, who had engineered at Ferrari, designed a 3.5-litre V12 for it, and Giampaolo Dallara and Paolo Stanzani tuned it for the road at 280 horsepower. Two seats, a V12 up front and a long way to go: a grand tourer in the proper sense.
This picture puts it where a GT belongs - on a hairpin cut into the rock, high above a valley full of mist, with the first sun on the peaks behind. The silver takes the morning light, the red leather shows through the glass, and the wire wheels and oval headlamps are crisp.
