Wet asphalt, neon, and the wedge that closed out the eighties.
Ferrari revealed the F40 at Maranello on 21 July 1987 to mark the company's fortieth year, and it was the last new Ferrari that Enzo Ferrari personally approved. It was the fastest and most powerful road car the factory had ever sold, and a generation grew up with it on the bedroom wall.
This one is shot from behind on a wet street at night, in the rain. You get the part of the F40 people remember - the rear wing, the slatted engine cover and the round tail lamps - lit up pink and blue by the shopfronts, with the whole car doubled in the water at your feet. It is loud and bright, and made for a games room, a home bar or a garage wall that needs something to look at.
